
Henry Dotson is a registered professional electrical engineer with extensive experience in systems development, project management, and delivering complex hardware and software systems to operations. Henry is the founder of Mandla Solutions, Inc. which provides professional consulting services to the utility industry to help clients develop standards-based Smart Grid architecture solutions. Henry works with the Electric Power Research Institute as a Principal Investigator and serves as a Technical Expert member of the US Technical Advisory Group (US TAG) that works with other country TAGs to develop international standards for interoperability between utility information systems.
Henry has worked in the aerospace, commercial, space, and utility industries. He has held various roles at Southern California Edison (SCE), and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), focusing on Solution Architecture and Systems Engineering.
Henry holds Bachelor’s degrees in Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, both from Cal Poly, Pomona, which he earned simultaneously. Henry has done graduate studies in Systems Engineering at USC, and has several certifications in Systems Architecture. Henry is a member of several professional engineering organizations, and is an alternate LACBPE representative on two small business advisory councils to local government agencies.
Henry’s, interests include short term missions trips, mentoring the next generation of engineers from underrepresented communities, playing music, French, learning new things, genealogy, and watching tennis, gymnastics, and track.
Henry was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. He is married and lives in Pasadena, CA with his wife Vanessa. They have two adult children and are expecting their third grandchild.
